Why take out driver’s insurance?

Neither motor vehicle third party cover nor all-risk insurance insures you for bodily injuries sustained if you cause an accident yourself. Driver’s insurance offers you this certainty.

What damage does driver’s insurance cover?

Driver’s insurance compensates the physical injury to the driver in accidents of all kinds:

  • an accident where the driver is at fault,
  • when getting in and out if the vehicle for loading, unloading or refuelling,
  • while providing assistance to road casualties or a breakdown vehicle,
  • carjacking, etc.

This insurance not only covers medical and hospitalisation costs (after the financial contribution from the health insurance fund), but also provides an income guarantee in the event of incapacity for work or invalidity. It also offers compensation if you die in the accident.

Driver’s insurance is therefore a very useful extension of your civil liability insurance and fully comprehensive insurance, which do not cover physical injury to the driver.
